Five Frugal Things ~ September 22, 2017

 Well, howdy y'all!  I hope you had a delightfully frugal week!  Mine was, for the most part.  A few things I did to save my pennies were:

•  I collected seeds from my four o'clock plants, which I  will continue to do until they are done producing seeds.  Hopefully, I won't have to buy any more seeds for this dainty little flower ever again.  It has survived even the most brutal heat we've had, AND even on the days I neglected to water it! (I try to water everyday during the summer months here.  One day of watering neglect can often be the death of my more delicate plants and seedlings.)

•  I planted out some zinnia seedlings that I grew from seeds.  I'm cheering them on as we speak!

•  I saved two one pound plastic salad containers to use as mini greenhouses to start seedlings in.  This will expand my seed starting "operation" without me having to buy seedling trays.

•  I have been giving the old college try to watching what I eat, thus cutting back on the grocery bill some.

•  The weather has been a bit cooler these past few days (!)
, allowing me to cut back on watering outside.

How has your week been?  If you are still in the throes of hurricane recovery, you are still in my prayers.  Be gentle with yourself and don't forget to take care of yourself the best you can.  Even though it may not feel like it right now, this too shall pass.

"Wouldn't Ya Know It?" Giveaway

Just as I was preparing to do a long overdue giveaway, we began having computer issues and I am, so far, unable to upload pictures of the giveaway items. So if you will bear with me please, I'm going to forge ahead and just describe the items and will add photos when (if?!) I am able.

1) a precious little (white with green trim) childs apron from years gone by (previously owned and loved by some sweet little one so a little love may show ;-) ) I didn't make this one.

2) 2 new, small, hand crocheted (by me) wash/dish cloths, one in solid yellow & one in a cheerful multi of yellow, blue & green. You can get an idea of the colors in a similar cloth here.

VALENTINE'S DAY!

I thought I'd share some of my Valentine decorations and gifts from my sweeties from times past...

the plates I found at my favorite thrift shop about a year ago and the little embroidered runner at a yard sale last weekend...

the napkins I found in the "dollar section" at Target a few weeks ago~look at how the patterns match!

the chandelier was bought and hung for me while I was in Louisiana this past December by a very thoughtful husband~I love chandeliers and had been wanting one for the dining room for a while...I LOVE it! (maybe I should go out of town more often ;-))

Bobo is patiently waiting for some valentine's morsels.

And a few tokens of love that I have received from my romantic husband and sweet children over the years...

It's so good to be loved!

I thought I'd share another healthy breakfast idea that I had this morning and do quite often...

I make a habit of throwing fruit that is in danger of not getting eaten anytime soon into the freezer in containers and then, when the mood strikes, I make a frozen fruit smoothie. Usually just fruit with a little juice or water to help it blend easy but I have been know to add ground flax, wheat germ, plain yogurt & maybe a touch of splenda if it's not quite sweet enough for me (grapes are a great sweetener too!). This morning was just frozen fruits & water: grapefruit, blueberries, pineapple, grapes & orange mango juice (frozen into cubes)...

Mmmm, frosty (I like these anytime of day actually!

And before I get caught up in the whirlwind of my day, I've been meaning to share this beautiful jewelry set I got from Eve at Jewels of Eden~ she makes luscious jewelry and I have so enjoyed wearing mine around town. Thanks Eve!...

Another fellow shop owner on "etsy street" that has some precious prim tags, quilts, machine embroidery (check out the Redwork!) and other fun stuff is Sunbonnet Sue Lady . She's very creative and talented!
